Adult Vision Screenings
Adult Prevention of Blindness Program
Although it is believed that half of all blindness can be prevented, the number of people who suffer from vision loss continues to increase. BCABVI offers an Adult Prevention Program designed to preserve and enhance vision for Bucks County Residents.
The goals of the adult prevention program are to:
- promote awareness of proper vision care
- stress the importance of regular professional eye examinations and
- identify individuals whose vision may have deteriorated since their last visit to an eye care professional.
BCABVI provides free adult vision screenings and educational programs at a number of community based health fairs, events and expositions to encourage individuals to take steps to preserve and protect their eyesight.
Our trained vision screeners check Bucks County residents for both near and distance vision, color blindness, and peripheral vision. Participants are also given an Amsler Grid and instructed on its’ use for the purpose of early detection of Macular Degeneration and/or observation of the progression of Macular Degeneration.
Note: BCABVI provides a limited vision screening, designed only to detect certain symptoms of potential vision problems. It is not a comprehensive eye examination and is not intended to take the place of a professional eye exam.
