Our clients report that transportation is one of the greatest barriers to independence for people who are blind or visually impaired. While some public transportation is available in Bucks County, it often does not sufficiently address their individual needs.
BCABVI offers shared ride transportation services for our clients who attend BCABVI programs to encourage regular participation. All driver/case aides are trained in sighted guide techniques and are sensitive to the specific needs of people with visual impairments. Door to door support is provided to maximize safety for those individuals who have not received orientation and mobility training.
Specialized Services clients living in the community are provided transportation and escort services for medical appointments, daily living activities such as grocery shopping or banking, local stores and other agencies so they may receive assistance.
There is a small fee for transportation and escort services.
