Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
March 29, 2011:
Twenty four volunteers were recognized for their contributions to BCABVI at our Annual Volunteer Luncheon. “Over the past year, volunteers have provided over 1500 hours of service” said Anne Marie Spinden, Executive Director. “This is almost equivalent to having another full time staff person working with us to help achieve our mission”.
Volunteers were treated to a lunch of chicken parmigiana, shrimp and broccoli, zucchini and apple crisp smothered with vanilla ice cream. Each volunteer was recognized for their individual contribution and given a shirt with BCABVI’s logo and vision statement Rich, Vibrant and Independent Lives for People who are Blind or Visually Impaired.
Volunteers are an essential part of BCABVI. They each bring their experiences, individual skills and abilities to fill a void within the association. Whether they help in our Thrift Shop, assist our clients during activities, coordinate programs or serve on our Board of Directors every volunteer is valued for their contribution to the agency.
Some people may view volunteers as amateurs, but at BCABVI we always remember this: Noah’s Ark was built by volunteers. The Titanic was built by professionals.
Thank you to all our volunteers! We couldn’t do it without you!
