OUR IMPACT STORIES
Our clients come from all walks of life and we celebrate their diverse experiences and perspectives. Each individual is on their unique vision loss journey, and our mission is to empower them to live rich, vibrant, and independent lives. We invite you to explore their inspiring stories and discover what it truly means to be part of our vibrant community.
Paul
Paul wanted to remain independent in his home despite his progressive vision loss. At Bucks County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Paul accessed a specialized rehabilitation team equipped to address his comprehensive vision needs.
He uses words like "proactive", "helpful", "great" and "kind" to describe our staff.
Paul wants to share his positive experiences with others. His goal is to "make people feel better when they leave the room than when they came in."
Mary
Mary values her independence. With her vision loss, she was concerned that she wouldn't be able to stay in her home.
After receiving assistance from us for her daily living needs, Mary is confident that she can live independently.
"The staff at Bucks County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired go above and beyond to support and help me feel safe and secure. I feel a lot more independent."
Now Mary's able to focus her attention on the things that bring her joy.
Mary
Mary came to us after being diagnosed with several progressive eye diseases. She wanted to connect with others who understood what she was feeling and the challenges she was experiencing.
She joined one of our support groups and has since become a peer mentor.
"It's been so important for me to know that there are other people out there on the same journey that I am, sharing things that only they can understand, and knowing that I am not alone."
Mark
With his vision loss, Mark wasn't sure if he would be able to maintain his active social life.
A Certified Low Vision Therapist took the time to understand Mark's unique situation and identified accessible technology options that would work for him.
"My Low Vision Specialist is knowledgeable and extremely motivated to help. I'm a different person because of the help I've gotten from her."
Mark is currently expanding his outreach by mentoring new clients at BCABVI.
